The network of the Cherry Buttons Cooperative transcends local borders. The cooperative has long sought to make international connections that promote and propagate their mission: women's empowerment. They have found an enthusiastic partner in Haverford College. For five years Amina herself, the head of the cooperative, has hosted students from the college in her efforts to mobilise Moroccan women with an education in English, French, and Computer Science. Selected college students immerse themselves in traditional Moroccan culture while engaging with women at a Women's Empowerment Centre. A mutual exchange of knowledge transpires as college students learn Darija (Moroccan Arabic) and Moroccan women learn how to communicate effectively across cultures to a larger population of non-arabic speakers.
Ibu Movement
The Cherry Buttons Cooperative has affiliated itself with the Ibu Movement for four years now. Their partnership is one fuelled by a fierce dedication to empowering women and allowing them to share their voice through their crafts.
